Partnership Description:

The National Center for Self-Determination and 21 st Century Leadership at the RRI of Portland State University is a partner with The Arc of the United States, Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE), and TheArcLink Incorporated in the continuing design and implementation of an interactive website to provide people with developmental disabilities and their families. Information on all the Medicaid programs and services for people with developmental disabilities in every state and territory of the U.S. is being included on the website ( www.thedesk.info ). In each state, the Medicaid programs and services that support people with developmental disabilities and their families are carefully researched. Straightforward translations of Medicaid terms and service definitions are recorded by self advocacy leaders in more than 1,500 video and audio clips, so that people with disabilities can use the site and get an explanation of Medicaid even if they are unable to read and do not have screen reader software on their computers.
